The average, modern woman is more of a “natural girl” – The thought of buying a bunch of products, primers & potions for 1 night of use is absurd! However, there is 1 product that is worth the investment: Lip color. Whether it’s a gloss, stain or lip balm, it will provide just enough “pick me up” to finish a long day -still- looking fresh!

Your MUA will provide a great “base” for your lip color – It may be a lip primer ( such as Mac Prep & Prime Lip) or a concealor (which helps the final lip color “be true to tone”) or a lip hydrater ( I love Aveda’s Lip Saver spf15 ) Once your lips are prepped, I recommend having your desired lip color on hand for touch-ups throughout your event – Even the best “long-lasting” lip products will need enhancing after a few hours.

Here are a few crowd-pleasing lip colors for the woman who needs to look great for an extended period of time – i.e. wedding, photo shoot, etc. Since you might not wear the product again, I’ve included some very budget friendly picks that have great reviews!
Mac Pro Long Wear Lip Color * $22 * Apply in 2 steps, first the color, then the high shine gloss
Estee Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lip Stick * $24 * One step application. Apply a top coat of hydrater or gloss to avoid “dry” feeling after a few hours.
Revlon Colorstay Just Bitten Lip Stain & Balm * $6-$9 * Best applied over hydrated lips. This stain is so inexpensive, you can afford a few different colors! – Perfect for a fun night on the town when you don’t want to worry about carrying an extra item in your purse. * I personally love these for myself – carefree “marker” tip & very light weight – I apply on myself over an application of Aveda lip Saver spf 15 for a long lasting & shear effect.
*Always apply lip color to lips that have been exfoliated and hyrdated first – This will ensure an even color result without flaking or dark spots
*When using a long-wear or stain, no lip liner is needed – save $$
*Apply a hydrater ( like Aveda Lip Saver ) throughout the day and before bed – Air conditioning can dry lips and skin out – Protect yourself!
*Long wear lip colors & stains can make your lips feel dry as the hours wear on, keep a balm on hand to re-hydrate
*Do a test run! Wear your new color before the big event – Some colors look different on, and you want to make sure the product is comfortable on your skin.
*Do research: watch Youtube reviews, etc before spending your money. As you’ll see from the Consumer Report Video link (below) the cheapest product won the review! http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/home-garden/beauty-personal-care/cosmetics/long-lasting-lipsticks/overview/long-lasting-lipstick-ov.htm
